A cautionary tale against socialism. The United States has tried socialism before in
Plymouth, now in the state of Massachusetts. Upon arriving in the New World in
1620, the Pilgrims initially implemented a collectivist system where all property
and resources were shared. This arrangement was intended to promote equality and
communal welfare, resembling an early socialist principle. However, this system
led to significant challenges, including low productivity and discontent among the
settlers, as individuals were not incentivized to work hard when the fruits of their
labor were shared equally. They would be working together for the common good
based on majority rule, breaking from divine right authority.
By signing the Compact they agreed upon rules of communal survival, balancing;
faith, leadership, and fairness in collective decision making. The Pilgrim leaders
had social and governance challenges before landing, the group nearly split into
factions over the validity of their charter.
Then there was an immediate survival crisis as they stayed on board that first winter
under the communal system which
cost them 50-53 people of the 102 that came. Later, those that survived the first
year shifted to a system of private property for greater productivity and success.
Socialism can never tax their way to prosperity; people will lose incentive and
income due to excessive taxation for the products and services they need. They
will be open to job relocation and migrate for better opportunities. Businesses from
slim profit margins will cause economic realignment.
When governance from budget projections built on penalizing any area of the
economy or individuals can cause an exodus of business and families from that
area. Local governments will watch business and the wealthy leave for different
locations. This is a warped view of Americanism to drive successful business and
individuals to leave for a better environment.
Socialism will cause a continual shortfall in the budget, and the only answer will
be to tax those that cannot migrate to another place. Socialism is insane, obstinacy,
obviously those that promote socialism are rulers of others that their lifestyles will
be maintained at the expense of others that work.
Capitalism by competition is Americanism at work for a better life. Let us roll up
our sleeves and get to work for our families, communities and nation. Let us work
hard for our American dream. We are a federal republic that promotes hard work
and opportunity through competition between ourselves. We the people can and
will move for better lives.
Capital, talent, enterprise are not fixed and immovable, we are not buildings,
businesses, capital, and talent are transportable. When we cannot make a profit or a
living in one area we move where there are greener pastures of opportunities and
leave ghost towns from failed leadership. Business responds to incentives and
disincentives and flows to the lowest point of resistance, slowly then all at once
business and people move. Decisions do not reverse and the states and cities that
embrace socialism will only fade as business and talent move. There will be only
suffering from loss for those that remain.
People and business grow together for the American dream of what can be. History
has proved our way of life for 250 years. There is no free lunch, only work for our
dreams. We Americans have a duty and the privilege to vote for those that lead,
may we vote wisely. There is nothing for nothing. We cannot regulate to
abundance.
